Farming gold in the World of Warcraft is simple - you run around, kill a specific set of enemies, and sell your loot; but you've got to know a few things in order to be really successful at farming. Specifically, you've got to know how to be prepared, how to prioritize loot, and how to optimize your killing time.

Leave Prepared. Farming gold in World of Warcraft is mostly about preparation, but it's not as simple as leaving with a few drinks and some food. Before you set out to farm, you've got to know two specific things: what you're going to farm, and where you're going to farm it; for example, if you're going to farm goretusk snouts you'd better know where exactly you're going to fight them.
Prioritize loot. Some loot is worth hundreds of gold pieces, while others are worth next to nothing. Prioritizing loot allows you to optimize your farming time by getting rid of worthless items while keeping stacks of items that sell well at the auction house; for example, if you prioritize goretusk snouts, you can discard the other loot goretusks drop (except, of course, the rare items).
Optimize your killing time. There are a couple of things you can do in order to optimize your time. First, make sure you don't goof off, because getting distracted can end your night. Second, make sure you know where the nearest auction house or merchant is. Third, make sure you know the fastest route back and forth so you can sell your loot and start farming again.
With a little patience and a lot of work, farming for gold in World of Warcraft is simply a matter of hard work and determination.
